For over 30 years, Dr. Constance Evelyn has been a dedicated advocate for public education at local, state, and national levels, with a focus on ensuring equitable educational opportunities for all children. As a superintendent in New York State for a decade, she was twice appointed by Governor Cuomo to represent New York State (NYS) superintendents on the Smart School Commission and the Common Core Learning Standards Task Force. Additionally, she was invited by the NYS Board of Regents to address educator diversity. Dr. Evelyn is a passionate supporter of women in leadership, serving as vice chair of NYS Women in Administration and a steering committee member for the NYS Council of School Superintendents Women’s Initiative. In 2019, she received the National Harriet Tubman Freedom Award and is a co-author of Evaluating the Superintendent: The Process of Collaborative Compromises and Critical Considerations.
