Dr. Lorna Lewis has been a pioneer throughout her 40-year career as an educator. She is in her third year as an executive coach for the WOCEC. In 2018 she became the first woman of color to preside over the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYCOSS), representing over 800 education leaders statewide. She currently serves as the superintendent of Malverne Union (NY) Free School District, after having served as the superintendent of Plainview-Old Bethpage (NY) Central School District and East Williston Union (NY) Free School District. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Hofstra University and an invited lecturer for Adelphi University and Fordham University. She has been recognized for her accomplishments as a leader in education by the Anti-Defamation League of New York, the Korean Parents Association, St John’s University Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, Long Island Black Educators Association, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, the NAACP, and Erase Racism.
