Rosalyn Rice-Harris is a promising principals’ academy coach for aspiring school principals at Insight.

She brings with her over 20 years of experience in public education, focusing on high-needs schools as a teacher, master teacher, principal and district leader. She has developed and led school improvement initiatives as a former principal and district leader in the Washington, DC area.  As a school leader, Rosalyn led schoolwide transformation efforts that narrowed achievement gaps in literacy, mathematics and science and increased family and community engagement by focusing on equity and advocacy.

As a district leader, she implemented programs to increase teacher and principal capacity, lead school improvement efforts and built a pipeline to develop teacher-leaders in both math and literacy to effectively impact instruction and develop a teaching corps of culturally competent instructional leaders in every Title I school.

Prior to joining City Year, Rosalyn served as the Director for School Improvement with the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). CCSSO is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, the Bureau of Indian Education and the five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions. Rosalyn supported the implementation of statewide school improvement strategies across the nation and provided professional learning, technical assistance and support to states to address their lowest performing schools and districts.

Rosalyn holds a Bachelor of Science in History and Policy/Secondary Education from Carnegie Mellon University and Master of Science in Education Administration from Trinity University.  She is a New Leaders alum,  is a certified National Association for Elementary School Principals (NAESP) principal mentor and is working on her certificate in School Management & Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
