Dr. Talisa Dixon, a veteran educator and advocate for equitable opportunities, retired as superintendent and CEO of Columbus City (OH) Schools in 2022. She began her career as a social studies teacher in Akron and held leadership roles in Columbus from 2001 to 2010. Returning in 2019 after leading Cleveland Heights-University Heights City (OH) School District, Dr. Dixon guided Ohio’s largest school district through a pandemic and introduced a new strategic plan. Her leadership earned her national recognition, including the 2017-2018 National Administrator of the Year by the American Heart Association. Dr. Dixon also served as Superintendent in Residence at Ohio State University. Born in Oxford, Mississippi, Dr. Dixon holds a B.A. in sociology from Mississippi Valley State University and multiple M.A. degrees. She holds a doctorate in education from the University of Akron and was recognized in the 2022 Columbus Business First Power 100. Among her many honors, she received an honorary doctorate from Otterbein University and the Distinguished Educator Award from the National Council of Negro Women.
