Several schools and districts in the WOCEC orbit – where WOCEC members teach and lead – have worked to implement SEAD strategies in their school buildings – strategies that promote social, emotional, and academic development.
In this New York City school building, one teacher implements one of the strongest SEAD strategies, a method for conducting totally student-led discussions which builds student capacity to lead their own discussions. As part of that work, she maps the discussion and shares that information with her students, which empowers them and helps to increase discussion in the classroom.
